UCOL students to support NZ Agribusiness forum

A group of UCOL Visual Imaging students will gain real life filming experience during New Zealand Agri Investment Week after being selected to help film a thought leadership forum for live streaming on

ASB Perspective 2025, supported by UCOL and, will feature ten women from diverse backgrounds each giving their own unique insights on the challenges and opportunities facing New Zealand agri-business into the future.

The round table discussion will be take part on stage at The Regent on Broadway in Palmerston North on Friday 18 March at 7.30am and will be live streamed through the Business section of

UCOL Bachelor of Applied Visual Imaging students Rata Janssen (20), Emma Blackmore (24), John Freeman (20) and Jamie Dunn (20) will help film the forum. 

UCOL Video Lecturer, Michael Watson says the event provides a great opportunity for students to gain crucial experience and meet key figures in industry. “We strive to provide real world opportunities and industry experience for our students through our stakeholders.”

Student Emma Blackmore says she is excited about the opportunity. “It’s always good to get out in industry and give it a go. We always try and do industry related activities at UCOL and having this real life experience will be great.”

Minister for Women and Land Information Hon. Louise Upston will open ASB Perspective 2025 and will join the round table discussion for a final Q&A session.

The panel will be made up of women with varied background and expertise, including 2013 UCOL Council Honours Award recipient Mavis Mullins.

Public participation in the forum is encouraged through Twitter, and questions tweeted using the hash tag #NZAgInvest will be posed to the women in a Q&A session.

UCOL Senior Chef Lecturer Mark Smith will also be involved in NZ Agri Investment Week as a judge for the inaugural Plate of Origin competition.
