UCOL continued to strengthen its international partnerships when it recently hosted the Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College, a top tier China Ministry of Education funded polytechnic located in eastern China.

The Shandong Delegation, led by Party Secretary Lin Lingjia, included senior staff from the polytechnic’s business, IT and language faculties. The delegation took the opportunity to visit UCOL’s Palmerston North campus, and held discussions with senior UCOL staff to better understand New Zealand’s educational pedagogy and programme development.

In addition, the delegation also met with the UCOL’s Executive Dean of the Humanities and Business faculty, where exchanges on a potential international collaboration were discussed.

UCOL’s Executive Director of Business Development Dr Arthur Chin says, “Hosting the Shandong Delegation is part of UCOL’s initiative to increase international collaboration.”

“Internationalisation is a priority at UCOL. The benefits of having international students at UCOL helps ensure diversity of learning for our student community, and at the same time adds vibrancy to our wider community. Students will be exposed to new methodologies of learning, different cultures and beliefs, and this help them to be work ready, wherever they choose to work.”
