
Mr Lyal French-Wright has been appointed to the UCOL Council by the Education Minister Hon. Chris Hipkins.
UCOL Council Chair Ben Vanderkolk said he is looking forward to welcoming Mr French-Wright when he joins the UCOL Council on 1 May 2019. “Mr French-Wright has experience with the education sector at a secondary, tertiary, and international level. Mr French-Wright is also on the Council of the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki.”
As well as welcoming Mr French-Wright to the Council table, Mr Vanderkolk acknowledges the contribution of outgoing Councillor Pamela Jefferies’ whose term finishes at the end of April 2019. “Ms Jefferies has had a distinguished career and given great service to New Zealand, as a professional Director and Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, and her roles with the Wairarapa District Health Board, Chief Commissioner Human Rights Commission, Legal Services Board, Equal Opportunities Tribunal Panel, Auckland District Services Committee and the National Housing Commission.
Mr Vanderkolk said “UCOL is one of the best performing polytechnics in the country and the Council team are ready to lead UCOL into the future. UCOL, in its many forms, has been in existence for over a century, and as a viable, stable, proud and polished example of a successful polytechnic, we have a rich heritage of vocational learning to contribute to the future. We welcome Mr French-Wright to the UCOL team.”
