Organising your visa: When you have gotten your Offer of Place from our UCOL enrolment team, the next step is to apply for a student visa.

New to New Zealand?: Is this your first time studying in New Zealand? In this cause you will need to apply for a visa directly from Immigration New Zealand.

UCOL is an approved provider for pathway visas under the Immigration New Zealand pilot programme. The pathway visa allows international students to undertake up to three consecutive programmes of study on a single visa. The visa will be valid up to a maximum of five years. International students on a pathway visa may be able to work up to 20 hours a week while studying, and full-time in the holidays.

When your application is ready, please email to internationalsupport@ucol.ac.nz for further instructions.

After you have received an e-visa from INZ, please send a copy to a.coleman@ucol.ac.nz

Pay Your Fees

Pay your fees* using the information provided on your Offer of Place. UCOL will send you a receipt after your payment comes through. Please keep your receipt since it is required by Immigration NZ to process your study visa.

Insurance

All international students planning to study at UCOL must have medical and travel Insurance - a compulsory requirement of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. Your medical and travel insurance must include cover for (a) travel to, from and within New Zealand, (b) medical care in New Zealand, (c) repatriation or expatriation as a result of serious illness or injury, (d) death, including travel costs of family members, repatriation or expatriation of the body, and funeral expenses.

All international students are automatically enrolled in UCOL’s preferred medical and travel insurance, Studentsafe. This insurance will cover you from departure of your home country to the expiry date of your student visa. The insurance charge will be invoiced to you once you have paid your tuition fees. If you choose to purchase your own medical and travel insurance, this charge will be reversed when you show your insurance policy and certificate to UCOL at the Student Information Centre. UCOL will need to ensure that your insurance policy meets the minimum standards of the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016.
