Insurance
All international students planning to study at UCOL must have medical and travel Insurance - a compulsory requirement of the
Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. Your medical and travel insurance must include cover for (a) travel to, from and within New Zealand, (b) medical care in New Zealand, (c) repatriation or expatriation as a result of serious illness or injury, (d) death, including travel costs of family members, repatriation or expatriation of the body, and funeral expenses.
All international students are automatically enrolled in UCOL’s preferred medical and travel insurance,
Studentsafe. This insurance will cover you from departure of your home country to the expiry date of your student visa. The insurance charge will be invoiced to you once you have paid your tuition fees. If you choose to purchase your own medical and travel insurance, this charge will be reversed when you show your insurance policy and certificate to UCOL at the Student Information Centre. UCOL will need to ensure that your insurance policy meets the minimum standards of the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016.
