Take your ICT skills to the next level with software programming. Level 3 ICT provides project based experience in UCOL's computer labs. Content will cover creating  programme to provide a solution, knowlegde of microcontrollers, and construct and test a programme in a robotics environment.

Successful completion of UCOL's Academy ICT Innovation Programme is the first step in a journey. Equipped with new skills and a taste for the industry, you will know what you need to do to pursue a career in IT in an IT business support or administration and technology support role. If this is for you, you can undertake further tertiary studies in:

 Course Information

This programme comprises 22 Credits.

Unit Standard 18741 (Level 3) (Version 6) (6 Credits)
Formulate a design specification, write code, and test and modify a program to provide a solution to a problem; and create simple end-user documentation.

Unit Standard 29779 (Level 3) (Version 1) (3 Credits)
Prepare to create a software-controlled device built from components; assemble components for, program and test the software-controlled device.

Unit Standard 22715 (Level 3) (Version 2) (5 Credits)
Use personal computer software to demonstrate computer programming concepts for electro-technology.

Unit Standard 29791 (Level 3) (Version 1) (2 Credits)
Capture and prepare digital media for integration into other applications. This may include still images, moving images, audio, or other media types

Unit Standard 29770 (Level 3) (Version 1) (3 Credits)
Use the main features and functions of a spreadsheet application for a purpose.

 Domestic Entry Requirements

For year 11 - 13 secondary school students (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or students with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school).

Applications are to be received from participating schools.

Recommended school subjects include:

  • Computing and Digital Studies
  • Information Systems
