The programme will share with you the knowledge of Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre. You’ll learn about its operations, and will be introduced to practical skills in kaitiakitanga of flora and fauna, including trapping pest animals. A key component is building competence in operating safely in te ao tūroa.

This programme comprises 30 Credits.

Unit Standard 20427 (Level 2) (Version 3) (1 Credit)
Demonstrate a basic ecological understanding of plant species in a specified park area.

Unit Standard 20668 (Level 2) (Version 3) (1 Credit)
Demonstrate a basic ecological understanding of animal species in a specified park area.

Unit Standard 376 (Level 3) (Version 8) (2 Credits)
Employ customer service techniques to accommodate customer behavioural styles in a workplace.

Unit Standard 31535 (Level 3) (Version 1) (11 Credits)
Assist in preparing and leading an outdoor activity.

Unit Standard 29336 (Level 3) (Version 1) (11 Credits)
Demonstrate understanding of the purpose and impacts of rural pest animal operations.

Unit Standard 29338 (Level 3) (Version 1) (6 Credits)
Demonstrate understanding of the purpose and impacts of rural pest animal operations.

Unit Standard 6143(Level 3) (Version 7) (6 Credits)
Carry out a local kaitiakitanga activity with direction.

 Domestic Entry Requirements

For year 11 - 13 secondary school students (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or students with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school).
