In conjunction with the Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme you will be part of a team which creates a business and sees an idea from concept through to sales. If you are interested in learning about business, the best way is to jump in and get the job done!

Join UCOL's Academy Business Enterprise Programme to develop a business from scratch, and experience key roles in a business, including chief executive, marketing director, finance director, sales director and production director. You will have the opportunity to work towards NCEA Level 3 whilst being responsible for a core operational aspect of a business, and be required to attend:

  • Pitch evenings
  • Dragons dens
  • Sales opportunities
  • Additional classes

 Course Information

This programme comprises 24 credits.

Unit Standard 91382 (Level 3) (Version 2) (6 Credits)
Develop a marketing plan for a new or existing product.

Unit Standard 91384 (Level 3) (Version 2) (9 Credits)
Carry out, with consultation, an innovative and sustainable business activity.

Unit Standard 9681 (Level 3) (Version 7) (3 Credits)
Contribute within a team or group which has an objective.

Unit Standard 1307 (Level 3) (Version 8) (3 Credits)
Speak to a known audience in a predictable situation.

Unit Standard 11097 (Level 3) (Version 5) (3 Credits)
Listen actively to gain information in an interactive situation.

 Domestic Entry Requirements

For year 11 - 13 secondary school students (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or students with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school).

Applications are to be received from participating schools.

Students must maintain appropriate attendance at both secondary school and Academy to remain enrolled in the Academy Programme.
